Trauma, EMDR, & PTSD Counseling
Trauma isn't fair, but it's something millions of Americans experience. Being a victim (of a crime, natural disaster, childhood neglect, or intimate partner violence) is not your fault, but can still make you feel ashamed. If a traumatic experience leads to PTSD, your mind and body may continue to relive the event through intrusive thoughts and nightmares Trauma can also lead to emotional and interpersonal struggles with anxiety, sadness, anger, hypervigilance, low self-esteem, and emotional outbursts. Adopted children often experience separation trauma that can affect the whole family. Repetitive or prolonged traumas, especially in childhood, can lead to Complex PTSD, or CPTSD.

The good news is that there's hope. Let's stop the terror of the past from ruining your present and future. Working with a compassionate, trauma-informed therapist can help you process and move through past events. I also offer EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), which allows you to process experiences that may be too distressing to talk about in detail. EMDR is a relatively new psychotherapeutic tool but has been shown to be effective for PTSD in dozens of clinical trials.
I'm here to offer a caring ear, a customized therapeutic approach, and years of personal and professional experience. Get in touch to move beyond adversity, start healing, and find the future you deserve.
